Sogakofe Senior High School was established in 1961 as one of the Ghana Government Education Trust Schools under the CPP regime led by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The school begun with a modest number of 13 students (nine boys and four girls). At the end of the first term in December 1961, the enrollment increased to 28. But fifty years later the population is now over 2000 students. In June 1966, the school sat for its first ever WAEC O'Level examination. The school has Day and Boarding Facilities for Male and Female students.

Sogakofe Senior High school is located at Sogakofe on 319.76 square acre land acquired by Government. In terms of physical structure and school size, the school is the largest institution and the first boarding senior high school in the South Tongu District, and also by far the leading school in the district in terms of academic performance and other school activity competitions.

Sogakofe Senior High School offers four (4) main academic programmes. These are:

  • General Programmes: (i) Science       (ii) Arts

  • Business Programme: (i) Accounting

  • Agricultural Science: (i) Animal Science   (ii) Crop Science

  • Vocational Programmes: (i) Visual Arts  (ii) Home Economics

​ Additionally, all students also study the 7 Core subjects namely: English Language, Integrated Science, Core Mathematics, Core French, Physical Education,  Social Studies and Information Communication Technology, of which the school has a well-resourced ICT Lab. 

Academic Programmes

The school offers a three – year Senior High course that prepares students to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the following disciplines – General Arts, Science, Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts and Agricultural Science. Students enter institutions of high education like the universities, polytechnics and training colleges after successful completion.
